The Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association (Perdasama) urges Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain to visit the extreme condition at Kg Lindungan, Kg Medan and Kg Dato Harun which can be deemed very dirty, especially on the side table, road shoulder, dumping area and the long uncollected rubbish.

Although business owners had resorted to pest control, that is not their obligation to do so. Therefore, Perdasama also urges the Health and Environment Services director, Dr V Chitradavi, to conduct thorough checking and evaluate the condition of the areas where pests such as mice posed huge nuisance to the public and businesses. The city needs to buck up because in comparison, the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) is cleaner and more organised than MBPJ.

Perdasama also wishes to raise some concerns on the presence of wild dogs that disturb the peace of the community. Recently there are cases whereby the dogs have entered the mosque areas. No action has yet to be taken, just like the cases of abandoned and broken down motorcycles that sit on the side of the road for months.

In regard to local businesses, Pedasama appeals to the city council to address the plight of its many shop owners. There is no objection for the night and weekend market peddlers to go about their businesses, but unfortunately their presence has hindered customers from visiting the shop lots, particularly by blocking and obstructing the entrance to the shop areas.

This has caused the traders to lose half a day’s income on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings, purely as customers cannot enter the area. Later, it hampered their efforts to pay their staff and bills on time as well. Four clinics, motorcycle and car workshops are among those affected by the daunting situation.

These businesses pay good money for licenses, taxes, Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Social Security Organisation (Socso) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) but apparently, their appeals have fallen on deaf ears.

On a side note, Perdasama is deeply upset over the rude display of nine Australians in their Jalur Gemilang-themed underwear, including one Aussie minister’s aide, at the F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix in Sepang.

The group had shown immense disrespect to the country’s sovereignty and to the people of multicultural, multireligous Malaysia.

In future, don’t issue visas to the group and they should be blacklisted from entering the country.
