Before the editor starts receiving more mail about the church relocation issue , I would like to clarify some information about this place called Taman Bukit Mewah.

If you happen to visit Kajang town centre, you will notice a very tall condominium sitting on top of a very prominent hill. That is where Taman Bukit Mewah is. Residents of Taman Bukit Mewah have two main roads to commute to work. One is via a two-lane 1.5km road named Jalan Bukit, the other via a four-lane road named Jalan Semenyih.

Jalan Semenyih serves the bulk of the traffic from Semenyih town towards Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya. It is not surprising to say that this road is highly congested throughout the day.

Jalan Bukit on the other hand serves the Kajang KTM station, SMK Jalan Bukit, SMK Convent Kajang, the Dong Jiao Zong Higher Learning Centre (a college), the Holy Family Christ Church and parts of Kajang's main town.

On top of Taman Bukit Mewah itself, there is the Kajang fire station, a veterinary clinic and a Chinese temple.

Before the Silk Highway was opened, Taman Bukit Mewah residents had to waver 20 to 30 minutes just to enter and exit their beloved housing area. Even with the highway, residents have to schedule their travel such that it does not coincide with major activities along the road such students entering and leaving their schools.

As a Taman Bukit Mewah resident for more than nine years, I urge the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) not to add another community service building there be it a mosque, church, post office or clinic.

I applaud the MPKj efforts to 'de-centralise' Kajang town as it allows for more efficient use of its existing facilities. More people are able to access the Kajang train station due to less traffic along Jalan Bukit. More importantly, Kajang firefighters can reach a scene faster without spending too much time behind motorists.

On a separate note, there are other reasonable areas around Kajang to build a church. Kajang Utama, which is on the other side of the Silk highway, opposite of Jalan Bukit is one such location.

Land around the Silk highway itself is quite suitable as well. Lastly, areas along Jalan Reko are another possible spot as the highway has absorbed most of the traffic going towards Bangi.

I hope readers do not take residents' objections against the church relocation as religious intolerance. There are very strong town management reasons not to build one in Taman Bukit Mewah.
