I find ugly the government's crackdown on a so-called 'deviant religious leaders'.

The only measuring stick being used against these Sky Kingdom members and leader is not what they are saying but rather how many followers they have. It looks more like a witch-hunt against talented orators with political potential.

What about the federal government's brushing off of Islamic ideals when it suits their agenda? An example is the deputy prime minister statement about the handing out of free condoms and needles as being in line with Islam. Is this not also considered deviant teaching as well?

People like Ayah Pin know too well that they are talking nonsense. But they can argue, 'Well, everyone else is re-interpreting Islam, why can't I do the same?'. Perhaps Ayah Pin feels he is championing freedom of speech.

Some people are born to be awkward. It is called eccentricity. Some people like to swim against the tide. Some people like to challenge the norm. That is human nature. Why can't people find Ayah Pin amusing as an eccentric rather than hound him like he is a criminal of some form?

The government, by victimising him, is making him a martyr in his own mind. Can the government seriously claim to be protecting the interest of Islam especially after the recent docking of the USS Nimitz at one of our ports?

How many deaths of civilians has this instrument of war caused including that of innocent women and children? What kind of Islam can our government claim to represent when it cowers in fear in the face of true evil, yet finds fault in the harmless antics of an old man?
