30pct for bumiputra has validity and expiry

Now to put things back to its original perspective - and that should bring to mind that the 30 percent reservations for bumiputra is a reasonable privilege and assistance given to help boost up their standards of living, wealth and status in Malaysia - let alone to help the bumiputra catch up with the ‘successes’ of the Chinese Malaysians and Indian Malaysians in the rat race, who were then moving at a faster pace and well ahead in almost every field throughout the nation.

This 30 percent reservation was given simply to help the bumiputeras (Malays) to catch up with the other races and this has nothing doing with the demographic population aspect. It was just a way to help boost these 30 percent to harvest and gain the benefits like running a handicapped race.

If this was not the case, then based on the 60 percent population ratio, the government should remove this 30 percent reservation privilege to make it 60 percent or better still give a 100 percent.

Apparently, this is not good for the country at large, when Malaysians fight amongst themselves for a living.

Obviously, this 30 percent reservation privilege for bumiputra is to help them upgrade themselves. It has a validity and expiry date.

What it means is that as soon as the bumiputra have reached or rather hit the target of becoming an affluent and a successful businessman in the community and that they can compete with other races on equal standing, it is time for the government to withdraw the 30 percent policy, to let the bumiputra compete in the open market without any government assistance or backing.

That should be the objective.

Thereafter, the bumiputra are ready to take on the world to bring in foreign exchange and jobs for Malaysia, when they can stand on their own feet to face challenges and win in every fields they venture into a foreign market, etc, etc.
