We normally take no heed to the writings of any blogger, especially if one is a mouthpiece of a political party.

But when one becomes an instigator of violence, we cannot remain silent. Raja Petra Kamarudin, in a blog posting on Oct 17, seems to know there may be civil unrest and ethnic cleansing in our country.

He wrote, "This next one, which is going to be more like a civil war...And this time it is not going to just be in Johor, Selangor, Penang, Bukit Mertajam, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, and so on. It is going to be nationwide and the toll is going to be very high indeed."

One has to read the lines and between lines to see how cleverly RPK has used historical events out of context to make his disjointed arguments. It is clear that he has intent to instigate not only violence, but hatred and fear as well.

Such conduct is totally irresponsible. We are no apologist for any individual, politician, or political party. We do not see any person or politician "openly declaring war on the Malays, Islam and the Raja-Raja Melayu," as RPK suggests.

We, members of the Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan, are veterans of the military and police, and most of us have served more than 30 years in the security forces.

The civilians will be in awe what we have gone through – such as risking our legs being blown off by booby traps, shooting and firefights with our nation's enemies and criminals, public order duties, bombs disposals, infiltration into enemy organisation, United Nation peace keeping duties, etc.

In short, we have experienced enough hardship and seen enough violence. We hate violence. We treasure peace and harmony. The peace we enjoy today is hard fought and hard earned. As such, no individual or organisation that instigates violence will escape a piece of our mind.

We would like to state that among our objectives is to uphold our Constitution as the supreme law of Malaysia, protect the institution of the Malay rulers, and foster national unity and harmony among the Malaysian people based on the principles of Rukun Negara.

We as a nation are facing a very challenging future – in terms of world economic uncertainty, climbing unemployment rate, business closure and bankruptcies, inter-ethnic distrust, inter-religious sensitivity, ever growing rate of chronic diseases, moral and ethical decadence; just to name a few.

There is a calling for all Malaysian to think as Malaysians, to be united to face all those challenges ahead. We request RPK to stop making statements which even ordinary right thinking persons do not take him seriously. We invite him to come home and join our quest to make Malaysia great again.
