LETTER | I refer to The Star report BN introduces four potential candidates for Damansara which touched on the supposedly higher dengue cases under the jurisdiction of MBPJ.

For the information of Donald Lim who is the Selangor MCA deputy
chairman, I sit on MBPJ's anti-dengue the sub-committee.

I would like to enlighten Lim that the MBPJ health department is one of
the most active departments in any local council in Malaysia to curb breeding of mosquitoes.

MBPJ owes this success to the 184 Search And Destroy Aedes Rangers (Sedar) teams which comprise the participation of the Rukun Tetangga, residents associations, schools, construction sites and the MBPJ.

Our statistics clearly show there's a significant drop in dengue cases
in Petaling Jaya.

For example, there were about 190 cases from Jan 1, 2018, to Feb 28, 2018, compared to about 380 cases for the same period in 2017.

We have also started to see a downward trend in hotspot areas.

If Lim needs better statistical reporting, I can humbly provide it in full details for him personally.

To say Petaling Jaya is facing healthcare issues related to higher dengue cases is nothing but a lie akin to spreading fake news.

The news of the drop in dengue cases in Petaling Jaya was even reported in The Star about two months ago so perhaps Lim missed reading it.

Combatting mosquito breeding grounds is one of the top priorities which MBPJ is pursuing aggressively.

There may be other issues which can be raised with the general election just around the corner, but to scare the public with these kinds of lies is outrageous.
