Since it seems to be an accepted word these days among our 'learned' Umno MPs , I have decided to use this term - it is a sad fact that all 'kelings' like us have to accept that we are non-entities in this country be it economically or even politically.

We live in a nation where elected representatives of the people use racial slurs and connotations in Parliament without a care for the feelings of the minority race. A few months ago, when a reporter used the term 'coolie', the MIC president was the first to demand an apology.

Unfortunately, this time the word was uttered and defended by an Malay Barisan MP, there was no such protest by the MIC president. I wonder whether a suspension a la S Sothinathan was in his mind resulting in his inaction. The feeble response by SK Devamani also indicates the fear of suspension.

MPs like Badruddin Amiruldin forget that they live in a multi-racial and multi-cultural country. This is the same person who waves the May 13 book to threaten anyone who questions the rights of the majority. Well, we all know Umno MPs like the one from Jerai can get away with any form of racist remarks.

Badruddin has lost focus of his role as an elected representative of the people. Instead of finding solutions and debating about the increase in unemployment, poverty and food prices, he seems to be more interested in 'kelings' with earrings.

These MPs should attend a course on racial and cultural tolerance before they are allowed to mouth off in Parliament. Indeed, many 'keling' professionals are looking to find an alternative nation where racism maybe in the streets but never in the parliament.

Am I still living with the illusion that our country will evolve away from the likes of people like Badruddin? We need leaders like our prime minister who always insists that he is a Muslim leader of a multi-racial country.

To all my daughters' friends Elia, Marina, Najwa, Nicole and Karisma, ignore these racist politicians. Respect all cultures and religions for a better Malaysia in the future.
