I refer to Ken's letter Engage non-bumis to better universities .

Are we so inherently racist that solutions to a better tertiary institution of higher learning is only possible by even greater reverse discrimination? Since when were non-bumiputeras synonymous with the notion of superior capabilities?

Shouldn't the Malaysian public universities engage in talent-seeking, grooming and recognition regardless of race and religion? The academia has a clear indicator of performance. Similarly, management and administration has a definite benchmark. Both are blind to the colour of your skin.

I am amused that there are individuals who believe that more discrimination is needed to balance and cancel out past mistakes or bias in the system.

Let me say this once and for all - this is not about benefitting Malays and bumiputeras or non-bumiputeras. There is something greater at stake here, which is the quality of tertiary education in this country.

Try to rise beyond the communal politics, all of us, for once, and realise that priority should be given to those who perform. Weed out the leeches and lame ducks, regardless of their race, and give those who are willing to work and believe in excellence an opportunity to shine - whatever their denomination(s).

I am sure Ken is not a racist He is probably just not aware of how it sounded when he said it.
