The death by hanging committed by the Singapore Prisons Authority on the Australian citizen caught for possessing 400 grammes of heroine once again speaks volumes of the Singapore government's 'die hard' attitude towards people in general. So many people pleaded for clemency but that fell on brutally deaf ears. The Australian government pleaded for clemency on behalf of its citizen. Nothing seemed to have moved them.

Are they humans? Do they not have sense of guilt? They have murdered another human being in broad daylight before the whole world. It is indeed strange not one single individual from the government had a ounce of sympathy or conscience that the act of legalised murder - however justified they may want it to appear - was in all earnest wrong before the eyes of God. Let me go one step further, wrong before our very own conscience itself.

I heard on the TV that the Singapore prime minister justified the death sentence as he calculated that 28,000 people's lives would have been affected if the 400 grammes had reached the masses. I found this analogy one of the most stupid, ridiculously idiotic rhetoric a head of government could expostulate.

If that is so, then a plastic bag of rubbish left uncleared by the municipal council could harbour millions of germs and viruses and fungi and that could cause untold harm to millions of humans in that country. This would justify the death sentence on the staff of the municipal council for being the culprits of this potential threat. Now, the municipal council is under the governance of the government and therefore the PM himself should be held responsible and sentenced to hang.

Let us look at the Singapore government's attitude towards rules and laws in general. It all started a few decades ago when the new government felt that a totally new set of laws was the only recourse to change and control the people if the government was to be in power till eternity. Their freedom of speech must be curtailed to the maximum, their freedom of liberty must be reduced to the minimum, all differing political views be totally eradicated such that the citizens would feel their best recourse is to remain quiet and let the government continue with its own activities.

The society was annealed through a single course of action and that is through proclamation of laws. The Singapore government today has become "obsessed" with laws such that it has lost all divine values, human feeling and as a matter of fact, the basic human instincts of love and compassion. I would not be surprised if the Singapore government would have rejected the pleas of even the Pope if there was such a situation.

As far as I can see the Singapore government has become all and sundry an entire unit laid in straight jackets devoid of conscience nor guilt. How dare they justify the murder of a foreign citizen simply because he was in possession of 400 grammes of heroin. If it was meant to destroy people, then it was meant for the people of Australia.

In any event 400 grammess of heroin does not justify the act of murder caused to an Australian by the Singapore authorities. Is 400 grams of heroin equal to one human life? I call it the absolute small mindedness of this miniscule government that it prides itself to be heard with its ridiculous rules.

Remember anyone who takes the life of another is a murderer. The prime minister claims to have escaped the jaws of death after having been stricken with cancer. If that was the case, then I must say he was shown the stick of mercy. Let him not forget that. God is watching from above.
