I refer to your report Clipped over clip, DAP cries foul .
DAP parliamentarian Teresa Kok's bold and brave action in revealing the police abuse in the nude ear-squat incident should be commended. But in Malaysia she is rewarded with threats of legal action and possible imprisonment.
Now she and her DAP colleagues are under fire. A veteran politician like Lim Kit Siang should have known the consequences of his actions but I salute him for having the courage to still go ahead with it. But where are the other opposition parties like PAS and PKR? Why aren't they coming to the rescue of their opposition comrades?
The BN parliamentarians, senators and the media are having a field day throwing abuse at the DAP. Everybody seems to want a piece of the action and are using this issue for their political advantage with total disregard to the sensitivities of the various races in a multiracial country.
They are least bothered about the consequences of their actions on the already strained interracial harmony in the country.
It is heartening to note that our deputy prime minister denies the ear-squat incident is a racial one. Nevertheless it is strange that every issue, whatever its origin, finally becomes a racial one in the end. This must be a Malaysian peculiarity or rather, speciality.
