Congratulations to Hamas for winning the elections in Palestine. This proves that if Muslims are allowed to participate in free and fair elections, they will vote for their clergy. Hopefully, Hamas will become the new blueprint for democracy in the Arab and Muslim world.

So, why did the Palestinians vote out their secular leaders in favour of Islamist leaders? The reason - Hamas does not have a corruption problem. Also, Hamas has more military clout thanks to Syria and Iran thus providing security and protection against Israeli brutality.

Most importantly, the Palestinian people credit Hamas and not the ruling (now ex-) government for liberating Gaza.

What are the implications for Malaysia? That Muslims want a clean and corruption-free government. But non-Muslims do not want Islamic clerics running the country because of Islamophobia and a belief in Western propaganda.

It is sad that non-Muslims would vote in a government that oppresses its people using un-Islamic and evil laws rather than vote for the Islamic alternative. We forget that the secular parties running the country are the brainchildren of colonialists who forged our political system based on 'divide and rule' policies so that we will always be Malays or Chinese or Indian, never Malaysians.

Just like the people of Iraq will always be Sunni or Shia or Kurd, never Iraqis. Not to forget the icing on the cake, that is the emergency laws we inherited such as the ISA, laws restricting freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, as well as a subservient judiciary operating in unison with a police force which has zero respect for human rights and dignity.

All this designed to prevent a change of the 'status quo' which will threaten the imperialist forces which are strangulating the poor and oppressed of the world.
