We can keep talking and comparing between current and previous prime ministers but what we care most is how policies can affect Malaysians out in the street. We are really tired of all the rhetoric and lip service. Walk the talk. Better still, no need talk at all, just walk. Action speaks louder than words.

I hate to say this but it seems like no matter how Dr M spent funds from the country's coffers, he did not burden the rakyat. He did not raise the fuel prices time and again, he did not raise the electricity price, he did not raise the water tariff. All these are necessities for the survival of human beings. What is the point of saving for the sake of development if we need to spend more for basic human necessities?

We are a net exporter of fuel. We are never on the losing end so do not cow us into believing all the excuses for the price hikes. Instead, we should look at our neighbour and learn from how can they be so successful without any natural resources. The answer is 'add more value' and don't just suck from the earth.

I remember during a business trip to China, I was asked where I came from. Everybody knows Malaysia by its symbolic Twin Towers. Somehow I feel very proud. Dr M probably knew it was just impossible to propel us into international radar in a short time as we are weak in many areas. So he chose a different way - the Commonwealth Games, KLCC, the FI circuit, KLIA and Putrajaya are some of his attempts to name a few.

We should not miss the point. Whatever the policy, just measure the effectiveness by gauging the satisfaction of the common people out in the street.
