Traffic fines: Ministers should clean up act first

I refer to your special report Ministers' unpaid traffic fines .

I am not only appalled at the number of summonses issued against our ministers but I am also appalled at how the police can still continue their 'Ops Sikap' and 'Ops Warta', etc, and not catch a single minister in the process.

From the list published by malaysiakini, some of the ministers' summonses are as old as 1999! Why are the police victimising the rakyat and not the rakyat's representatives?

Some of the methods used by the police are very degrading like arresting the unsuspecting traffic offenders when they are sleeping in their homes. I remember watching the news once and the poor soul albeit an 'orang kena saman' walked out from his own house with disheveled hair, handcuffed and wearing a singlet.

I challenge the police to use the same technique against the ministers. Most appalling of all is the fact that some of the ministers own a fleet of cars up to 14 and yet they do not want to settle their summons.

Dear ministers and police, please clear up your act before you ask us to clear all our summonses.
