We see long queues of taxis waiting to pump gas in most Petronas stations. Gas is cheap and also clean, and that's why these cost-conscious taxi drivers are willing to wait for 45 minutes to an hour or more for their turn. What they lose for not being able to take fares while they are waiting is offset by lower fuel cost.
We have a problem with public transportation and imagine if we can "release" these taxis to the public instead of having them unavailable in such large numbers for so long.
In the 2005 budget speech, our prime minister (and also finance minister) promised that more stations will sell gas, but it seems that his officials were not listening to him. Just like everything else, the wheels of the bureaucracy is turning ever so slowly in spite of Pak Lah's promises.
Our PM somehow seems not to have that "push" when it comes to making his officials perform. He makes announcements regularly, but we do not see that turn into action. Pak Lah, please stop trying to be Mr Nice Guy and get down to work.
