I refer to the letter Foreign medical courses may not be accepted .

Unfortunately, many of the currently recognised universities would not survive an objective evaluation for reasonable standards. Recognition of these medical colleges by the Malaysian government was the result of a political decision made.

To de-recognise some of them now would be an unfriendly act towards a friendly neighbour. So in the meantime, our students are misled into believing that our government had evaluated these universities and had found them to be satisfactory.

And they graduate, come back to Malaysia and are licenced to practice. In time, our people begin to see a difference in the skills of doctors from this place and from that place.

This is unfair to our students and to our people. Our doctors must be trained to the higher standards we have attained for ourselves. There is no point talking about Vision 2020 if we continue to lower our standards.
