I refer to the malaysiakini letter New private jet: Gov't still the owner .

We were told that there is insufficient funds to increase the pay of our rank-and-file policemen who shamefully live below the average-income line. The new IGP had made a proposal for a pay increase for these policemen who live on a few hundred ringgit a month.

We were told that the government did not have enough money to continue subsidising the price of petrol for the rakyat even though Petronas made a record high profit last year.

We were told that the government could not continue subsidising the highway operators for the loss they were making.

We were told that as a result of the higher petrol prices, our electricity bills would increase. Our water bills have increased anyway and food items prices have definitely increased as well.

Meanwhile, we have overcrowded schools. Schools without proper hall and gymnasiums. Some schools do not have enough money to buy chairs and tables. Our drains are open and dirty, and our rivers are brown and muddy.

There are poor Indians living in dire situations as revealed by the malaysiakini report on slavery in Malaysia. There are Malays and Chinese in rural Malaysia who struggle to make ends meet.

Then there are politicians who feel the need to travel in comfort and luxury. Jet-setting in a luxurious Airbus jet outfitted with special private jet trimmings. Our PM says its for the King, himself and other leaders to use.

I wonder if the Yang Di Pertuan Agong would openly comment on this statement as to whether His Majesty had been consulted on the purchase and if it was agreed to. I doubt it.

It is such a shame.
