The people have lost their trust in the government to manage a proper National Service programme and the people fear that more body bags will be coming home. We do not sent our children to the National Service only to expose them to unnecessary risk, and it is our God-given responsibility to keep our children safe. If we as parents feel that they are not taken care off then we have the right not to sent them.

Corruption is everywhere and has become more blatant. The slogans are plentiful but the endemic disease is far worse then it has ever been. It is unfortunate that the lords in Putrajaya do not come down to see how we common folk live each day under corrupt officials and government servants.

We have seen the Kampung Berembang video taken by malaysiakini.tv where the FRU and police were clearly on the side of the contractors and developers as they tore down people's homes. These are Malay squatters. We also remember Kampung Medan and the many Indian youths who were killed without any explanation and justice being brought to bear.

We have toll hikes that have risen to ridiculous amounts so much so that going to work now costs 50 percent more than before. Salaries have not gone up to cover this cost. Food and groceries have risen. Although there has not be an increase in petrol prices lately, it will be only until after the next elections that we will see further reductions in government subsidies.

We have cases of corruption and graft at the highest levels and a murder case implicating police officers and even politicians.

How can I as a citizen of Malaysia feel good about the economy when there is so little to feel good about?
