LETTER | Kudos to dedicated KLIA immigration officers

LETTER | I am writing to express my deep appreciation and gratitude to the immigration officers at the KLIA passport office. My recent visit to the office to renew my passport was a remarkable experience, thanks to their dedication and professionalism.

From the moment I entered the passport office, I was greeted with warmth and a sincere smile from the immigration officers. Their friendly demeanour and willingness to assist every individual in the office were truly remarkable.

The officers were respectful to all, regardless of race, gender, or age, and they treated everyone with equal consideration and care.

I was struck by the visible dedication of the immigration officers, who worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone who came through the doors was served promptly and efficiently.

Despite the large crowds and long queues, the officers remained patient, helpful, and respectful to all, regardless of race, gender, or age.

Their kindness and respect towards everyone in the office were admirable. They treated each individual with equal consideration and care, making sure that everyone was comfortable and well-informed throughout the process. They went above and beyond their call of duty to make my experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Great patience

I was particularly impressed with the way the officers helped the elderly to get their passports done without any hassle. They showed great patience and kindness, which was heart-warming to see.

Even though there were times when they had to be uncompromising, I understood why. There were people who were not appropriately dressed for their passport photo, and there were a few who were very harsh and arrogant to the immigration officers. Despite all of this, the immigration officers remained calm, composed, and focused on their work.

Their dedication to their job was visible, and it was evident that they were well-disciplined and committed to serving the public. They have truly changed my mindset and low expectation of the public service.

The team at the KLIA passport office is a shining example of how public servants should conduct themselves, and their hard work and dedication should not go unnoticed.

Stark reminder

But, as I was waiting for my new passport to be released at the KLIA passport office, my memory travelled back to the incident where there was a high-ranking government officer disrespectfully uttering abusive words and yelling at a highly valued and respected immigration officer at KLIA.

This incident was reported by almost every news media in the country and I remember feeling appalled and disgusted by such an ugly behaviour.

The incident was a stark reminder of the importance of treating our immigration officers with the respect and dignity they deserve. They have a difficult and essential job, and we should be thankful that we have such excellent and dedicated individuals serving the country.

They work tirelessly to ensure that our borders are secure and that everyone entering Malaysia is authorised to do so. Their commitment and dedication to their job are commendable, and we should recognise and appreciate their efforts.

Let us condemn any behaviour that undermines their work and show our gratitude for their commitment and dedication to serving Malaysia.
