I refer to the malaysiakini report Abim: We're an Islamic state in practice .
It is time to define clearly what we mean to say so that we don't taunt each other for some language paradox.
Looks like 'Negara Islam' [Islamic state] and 'negara Islam' [Islamic country] (my terminology, apologies) still mean the same thing to some folks whereas 'an Islamic state and 'an Islamic country' are clearly two different entities in the English definition referring to the former and latter BM translations respectively.
I urge Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, with the help of relevant authorities to please translate and clarify the meaning of 'Islamic state' and 'Islamic country' in Bahasa Malaysia with proper BM terminology if necessary.
