LETTER | The Malaysian Thomas Cup team has demonstrated and proven to the whole nation that teamwork is the only recipe towards achieving success against all odds.
The team was visibly weakened by the absence of our second singles as he was not fit to participate due to medical reasons. Hence, Malaysia sent an under-strength team for this Thomas Cup edition, and nobody expected them to qualify for the semi-finals.
But this team of youngsters showed the nation what teamwork means - with teamwork, the monumental task becomes achievable. They had obviously subscribed to working together towards achieving a common goal - success.
A job well done, Malaysian Thomas Cuppers and congratulations! And beef up towards storming the Great Wall of China with your excellent teamwork and greater resolve. Make your advance unstoppable. We are proud of you guys.
Malaysian politicians and leaders should take the cue from them and be team players working towards a common goal - progress and improved welfare for the populace.
Politicians and political parties that have subscribed to form the federal coalition government should work with each other as worthy team players steering the nation to greater prosperity and welfare for its people.
The current government has the support and participation of many political parties and political stability requires all politicians and parties that subscribe to the coalition’s formation must work together as worthy team players.
We enjoyed political stability for the first 50 years of independence and along that came great progress and development, but we paid dearly for it as the underlying reasons for political stability was systematic corruption which subsequently bred blind loyalty.
Beneficiaries of corrupt leaders were too happy to offer support and this rot has led to the country in deep debt. We strongly object to these corrupt practices as it haemorrhages the nation.
As it is, many systems have undergone changes for the worse. Political leaders should be working hard and analyse what had gone wrong and rectify the situation.
All of us are guided by the Malaysian Constitution in every aspect of our lives. It guarantees the welfare and well-being of all citizens, regardless of race or religion.
We can achieve greatness with harmonious teamwork and mutual respect. And we can achieve this degree of greatness despite our diversity. All that we need to do is to harness each other’s capability, work together with due respect and move together towards a common goal - progress.
Suspicion and relentless bashing will destroy the nation. The laws within the Constitution will take care of any wrongdoing. Leaders should offer selfless service.
It is time that political leaders learn to work together as a team towards achieving a common goal.
Learning to work as a team is not rocket science. Some politicians say one thing but act otherwise. Some say something just to please others although they do not mean what they say.
What we say or do is by choice and these insincere politicians think that we can be easily fooled by their words or actions. They are actually fooling themselves.
Working together with great teamwork is the only way forward, as aptly engraved in our national emblem - unity is strength.
