I have an appeal to DAP and PKR who are reported to be at each other's throats over candidacies in the six Chinese-majority seats in Sarawak for the coming parliamentary election.

Ever since I was eligible to vote more than 20 years ago, I have always voted for the opposition, always hoping that my one little vote will help to deny the Barison Nasional a two-thirds majority.

So to DAP and PKR, I appeal to you both to please be more united; please do not split our anti-BN votes by having three-cornered fights. During the 2006 state elections, you have cooperated so well that the opposition pulled in seven seats which was a record feat and which gave me hope that come this general election, the opposition will do more credibly.

Please do not place personal ambitions and personal egos above the common ultimate goal of denying BN their two-thirds majority. You have a responsibility to see that our precious votes for the opposition are not wasted. I urge PKR, especially Dominic Ng, to stand by your earlier agreement and not create three-cornered fights especially in the six Chinese majority seats.

I know that Ng has sacrificed a lot to be in opposition politics which means he is a person of principles so let this be the basis for him to sacrifice again in the interest of the anti-BN votes in allowing straight fights in these six constituencies. Please don't allow your recent major coup in the Padungan seat to prompt you to be so ambitious as to waste precious resources and precious votes by creating three-cornered fights in these important, potentially winnable seats.

I am very sure a lot of anti-BN voters in these constituencies are of the same view as I am. Please DAP and PKR, do not disappoint us again with your bickering over seats. We just want you to work together and make sure you get as many of your people into parliament to represent us. Thank you for hearing me out. God bless you all, and God bless Malaysia.
