I refer to the letter Negarakuku: Let's move on .
Namawee (Wee Meng Chee) has every right to express his frustration in a way suitable to him and he has done that in his YouTube posting. But the manner he did so by using the national anthem in his rap leaves a bad taste as the lyrics in the Chinese language have a vulgar meaning.
Any right-minded patriotic 'rakyat' would not accept such a demeaning gesture but again we should not sweep the crux of this incident under the carpet. Some of the lyrics reflect the dilemma facing our present-day youth. The relevant authority should investigate and take remedial action in tackling the problems facing our youth.
As for Namewee, action should be taken to deter a repetition of such an incident but again the rule of the law should be dispensed fairly and justly across the board and it should not be a case of selective victimising.
The same law should also be applied to the culprits who showed of a 'keris' and asked 'when it would be used' during the last Umno AGM.
As we move into our 50th year of independence and into the 21st century, the government of the today must be seen to act sincerely and fairly towards all parties.
