LETTER | I was shocked to read that Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli is taking a back seat. It looks like this is linked to some unexpected outcomes in the party election.
As reformasi supporters, we urge all party leaders to stay cool and unite.
The party has a leading role in government and needs to demonstrate behind-the-scenes maturity, whatever the outcome.
Don’t forget the disaster of the Sheraton Move, which came after bitter infighting in party polls.
Perhaps party leaders like secretary-general Fuziah Salleh or polls coordinator Dr Zaliha Mustafa can explain why so many sitting MPs lost in division polls, even though their “team” won?
We also note that PKR deputy information chief Chua Wei Kiat won the Selayang PKR chief’s post in the division’s re-election, defeating challenger Wan Ibnul Bahar Wan Ismail by 1,945 votes compared to 1,693 votes.
In the previous election on April 12, Chua received 1,648 votes, losing to Kamarudin Hussain, who obtained 2,041 votes.
Why the change? Explanations would be good.
