I think many youths are captivated by Indian movies and fail to differentiate between movies and real life. I blame this on their upbringing by their parents. If you look around, good parenting usually results in well-educated children.

I used to teach home tuition and I noticed how Indian parents screamed at their children to study hard when they themselves were glued to their TV dramas. If the children have to study from 7pm to 10pm, then do provide them with a quiet environment.

Switch off the TV when the children are studying so that it does not distract them and they would not be finding excuses to have a break. Get them to draw up a timetable and parents should make sure they know what their children are doing every moment of time.

Get the children to read storybooks. Take them to the public library. Leave them there for about five hours. Or hang in there with them. Spot check their whereabouts after school. They should be home after school to complete their homework and not roaming around in shopping complexes.

Introduce them to the world of books at a young age. I hardly hear nor see Indian children reading Enid Blyton books nowadays. They can watch all their dramas and movies they want once they have completed their education.
