I refer to the Malaysiakini article Pakatan better off without Manickavasagam .

The writer has taken what the government controlled national media has been reporting as the gospel truth without checking the authenticity of S Manikavasagam’s statement.

Manikavasagam is not holding Pakatan Rakyat to ransom, he has been with PKR since 1999. In fact, this man is on a noble, albeit lonely crusade to help the very people who voted him into power.

Klang residents are against the old Klang bus station being moved to Klang Sentral which is located on the outskirts of the city, far away from commuter stations, schools and homes, thereby resulting in hardships for the people.

The agreement between the developer of Klang Sentral and the state should be declassified for transparency and openness.

Yes, Manikavasagam won the seat because people wanted change. For many years the opposition tried to defeat Barisan Nasional but failed very miserably.

This time around, the Indian voters played ‘king makers’, delivering four important states to the opposition coalition of Pakatan Rakyat.

That Indian voters were the key players in March 8 and this is an undisputed fact in Malaysian election history. One can safely say that Indian voters put Manikavasagam where he is today, but it is also important to keep in mind that many other Malaysians played a part in bringing a change to the country’s political landscape.

It would be arrogant of me not to mention the other Malaysians who stepped up to the plate during the general election, just as it is arrogant and rude of the writer to mention and compare PKR with MIC.

Teng Chang Khim, the Selangor assembly speaker and veteran assembly person for Sg Pinang accused both Manikavasagam and Charles Santiago of behaving like ‘the opposition’.

Teng can be a veteran but he should not look down on his colleagues and call them inexperienced.

The writer may be entitled to an opinion but he is not in a position to issue any threats in seeking

Manikavasagam’s removal. One should respect the other party’s style and approach, even if one may not concur.
