This is my true experience, lunch time (Friday, Feb 20, 2009) about 1 pm, at Pandamaran town (behind Bukit Tinggi), Klang. It's a single-storey shop, near the main road, opposite Public Bank but no shop name, full of Hotlink banners and posters. A guy and lady, should be a couple, with a young baby.
I went in to buy a Rm100 Digi reload, which has a validity period of 120 days. For your readers information, I've been using Digi for near 13 years and the last time I reloaded was four months ago.
They tell me now that Digi doesn’t have the RM100 reload anymore, but RM105 for RM125 worth of credit. Well, sounds like a bonus, doesn’t ? I didn’t think much but asked if the validity period was still120 days and they said ‘yes’.
So, I paid up and they said they would directly send the credits to my handphone in about five minutes. The lady showed me her phone after keying in my handphone number and the amount for reload.
As you all may know, some shops do practice it this way, without giving any reload card. Then, I waited for five minutes in my car, parked just in front of the shop, but I did not receive any SMS notification about the reload. I went back into the shop and told them I didn’t receive anything.
The lady sent my handphone number and reload amount again. This time I waited at the shop for about 15 minutes. Still nothing. I couldn’t wait any longer as I had packed lunch for some colleagues and had to get back to office. I asked for their handphone number and left the shop.
Back at the office, I got an SMS but it was for a RM25 reload with a surcharge of 25 sen and it was from another Digi handphone number. This is not right. Normally, I receive the total reload amount without any charges.
Anyway, then another four SMSes came, also the same RM25 reload amount each with charges of 25 sen each. Well, I thought, it’s okay I guess, five SMSes times Rm25 makes a total of RM125 although I got charged RM1.25
At least I got my RM125 like what they said. However, when I checked the validity period, I was shocked to discover that it was only for seven days! Yes, seven days only!
Now I know what they did - they just used other Digi handphone numbers to transfer air time credit to me, where maximum amount is RM25 each time for seven days usage only. I got Rm125 but for only seven days to use! Argh! If this is not cheating, then what is?
I to call the phone shop’s hand phone number but there was no answer. I then tried to call the five Digi numbers from which I got the reload amounts but you've guessed it, none of them could be reached.
I then called Digi to make a complaint, at least just to notify them so that other users would not be cheated. I mean, what’s the point of having RM125 just for seven days, then it expires and you gotta reload again?
People are cheating in different kinds of ways nowadays. Please alert all your readers.
