YourSay: 'Why double standards by Umno board?'

your say ‘There is just no consistency in Umno's administration and it seems punishment is meted out at the leadership's whims and fancies according to the need of the day.'

On Ali Rustam appeals decision

Lim Chong Leong: While Ali Rustam may have been found guilty of corruption by the Umno disciplinary committee, he cannot be just barred from contesting any post if he is not suspended or sacked.

If he is not suspended or sacked, he is a full member, then he must be allowed to contest. This is his democratic right in the party.

I think Ali Rustam should seek redress in the courts through an injunction on the party polls, at least for the elections of the party's deputy president.

And why the double standards with Khairy who is only warned and not barred? If he is guilty, he is guilty.

Then he must face the same punishment which must be either suspension or sacking and not just being barred from contest. And compare these cases with that of Norza.

Why is he, after being charged in court, is still eligible to contest? Again, there is double standards.

There is just no consistency in Umno's administration and it seems punishment is meted out at the leadership's whims and fancies according to the need of the day.

On Don't appoint Najib as new premier

Timmy Say: No news of this in the papers. So sad.

These editors of all the mainstream media are the guiltiest persons in Malaysia for protecting the wrong-doers and depriving rural Malaysians of the real news.

They are really irresponsible towards the nation's progress, the nation's future and the rakyat .

If there's a change of leadership, I hope they are all retrenched at the very earliest and replaced with editors whom are non-partisan.

On 'Najib does not owe me any favours'

Baiyuensheng: I have seen a lot of interviews with Muhyiddin Yassin on his aspirations and so on.

But if memory serves me right, whilst he was the MB of Johor in 90s' he seemed to have been embroiled in a controversial land acquisition scheme supposedly for state development (apparently land can only be acquired for this purpose).

A lot of land owners, especially palm oil estates owners, were dissatisfied at the cheap rate used to acquire the land.

And apparently, these land banks were later sold to private entity for housing development at rates higher than those paid to the land owners, They were not used for s-called ‘development'.

Of course, this private entity later sold their houses and land at market rates.

I am not sure if these allegations are true but shouldn't the learned journalists pose questions on this matter rather than priming him as good and clean?

Most of the interviews had nothing bad said about him. I find that hard to believe.

On Mukhriz: Warning to KJ doesn't help me

Dennis Madden: What an appallingly awful choice: Mukriz vs Khairy vs Khir Toyo. Is this all Umno can offer as a guideline for the future of Malaysia?

If I were a young Malaysian with any concern for my fellow young Malaysians and the future of this 'should-be' great country, I wouldn't vote for any of them.

On Condemn all unethical political practices

M Raken: Are wealth, position and power for politicians more important than values, principles and self dignity in life? Political leaders are supposed to be role models for the people to emulate.

However in Malaysia, people see and hear about some political leaders involved in repeated scandals, corruption, bribery, murder, betrayals, avariciousness, greed, jealousy and revenge.

All this to stay in power or unseat somebody in power. Is this the legacy of our beautiful Malaysia that we are going to pass on to our future generations?

People are totally shocked and bewildered that some thick-skinned politicians are immune to every shameful embarrassment they face.

Every street and corner people are stunned by the number of repeated scandals in our country.

In countries like Japan, those in power resign from their respective portfolios the very moment their names are involved in a public scandal.

They resume their duty or post only after their name has been cleared by the respective authorities. It is not so in Malaysia.

As a result, people are living in desperation not knowing what will happen the next day in this beautiful country.

If the wicked triumph in amassing wealth and power through foul means and ignore the well- being of the nation and yet stay free from the clutches of justice, any country having such leaders will be annihilated in a matter of time.

All will be lost. Many such countries going through colossal disasters are living examples in this world. This is not preaching but a practical warning.

Leaders must remember that we come from dust and we go back to dust. We leave this world naked.

During this short sojourn of life, let us live a life of nobility fulfilling God's commandments and above all let us be true to ourselves.'

Let all Malaysians pray for the continuous prosperity and harmony of our country.

Millionth Citizen: First, we have the punching below the belt of Malaysia's democracy like selective prosecutions, then we have parliamentary sanctity being infringed by some gangster- like characters.

Worse they are being granted immunity by the conduct of government in not lifting a finger to reprimand them. Then we have an MP thrown out of the August house and aother charged with sedition.

Then in the other grand finale, an Umno supreme council member is charged by Umno itself with corruption and MACC is not able to do a thing because it (MACC) is subservient to their master ‘Umno'.

Worse, this ‘guilty' member can now keep his chief minister's post. And we are to believe that Malaysia is a 21 st century government in relation to the rest of the world.?

Everything is so wrong in this country. To our dear government, we are not leaving because you are bad. We are staying to see you being removed in the next GE for being bad.
