vox populi big thumbnail ‘As a DAP member, I feel that not only PAS is treating people in Kedah as fools but also the DAP. Obviously, DAP is asked to keep quiet all the time in Kedah’.

On 'PAS treating us like fools'

David K: It is interesting to read the comment about 'PAS treating us like fools' in Kedah and other articles in the last few days about the arrogance of PAS in Kedah.

As a DAP member, I feel that not only PAS is treating people in Kedah as fools but also the DAP.

Hadi Awang proposed to form a unity government with Umno. It was done without DAP's knowledge. Where is the respect by PAS to DAP?

If we see Kedah, DAP’s sole party assembly person, Lee Guan Aik, has not been given any position in the state exco or any significant role in state policy decision-making.

Obviously, DAP is asked to keep quiet all the time in Kedah. DAP has fail to stand up for the non-Malays in Kedah. And PAS is dominating Kedah at the expense of DAP's integrity.

If this continues, then DAP might as well team up with PKR and BN to administer Kedah (as was proposed by Gerakan's Tan Keng Liang)

I am not going to comment about PKR much but I feel that PKR has also failed to standup for the people in Kedah.

Proud Kedahan: Some voted for BN in the last election and some voted for PAS. PAS won the state.

PAS increased bumi housing quota in Kedah to 50% and someone says this is being racist.

Now, being a Kedahan, that person must know that the Chinese and Indians make up less than 50% of the population of Kedah (less than 30% actually).

Now, what about all the non-Malays and Malays who are not from Kedah and who do not reside here but virtually have a monopoly on house ownership in the state?

The whole idea is to put pressure on housing developers to build houses so that real Kedahans might actually have a chance to buy one (price-wise).

The non-bumis in Kedah will have more than the number of units that they can buy without any restrictions. Why the hate?

Pork is not the only meat that is increasing in price. It’s all about a monopoly by certain group of people.

I voted for PAS because I believe in the principles that they adhere to - not because I was mad at BN. I’m a voter at Kubang Pasu.

Wahid: I share the same view as the writer who said ‘...the type of administration of Kedah under PAS really put us Malays in a difficult situation’.

PAS should not manipulate Islam to champion their own selfish political agenda. Modern Muslims in Kedah are not stupid

Jangan PAS cuba pertaruhkan nama Islam untuk agenda politik PAS .

On Ronnie earns wrath of Subang residents

Ong: Ronnie Liu is really exhibiting his ignorance or naivety or both. There is no need for the state government to be ‘crazy’ and spend more than RM100 million acquiring the park.

All the state government needs to do is continue to reject the land owner's application to change the land use to commercial.

If the land owner believes that they will never be able to change the conditions of land use, they may even volunteer to surrender the land to the state because by owning the land they will continue incurring maintenance expenses.

Right now they are hanging on to the land title because they believe that one day soon, they will surely succeed in getting the land use changed to commercial because anything is possible in Malaysia.

Hannah Yeoh's suggestion that the park, which is under private ownership, be gazetted as a ‘green lung’ cannot be implemented without the state government spending RM100 million (according to Ronnie Liu) to acquire the land on which the part is situated.

She thinks we are a communist state where the government can simply confiscate private land without paying compensation.

A land title should never have been registered and issued to the developer in the first place.

Perhaps there should be an investigation into how and why the Land Office issued the land title to the developer. Possibility of corruption here.

On Flu outbreak: Getting closer to the century mark

Virus Hunter: I don't understand why are we are getting so worked up with the H1N1 virus outbreak. We don't see people dying in Malaysia due to H1N1 infection.

There are scores of people dying on our roads everyday and many more due to other diseases like dengue. I think we are just overreacting to the situation.

The time and effort channeled into handling issues related to this H1N1 infection are simply going overboard and very soon we are going to run out of resources.

The authorities should reassess the situation. We need to think out of the box. The standard control methods may not be that effective especially with a novel virus infection of this nature.

Furthermore, there are limitations when handling a flu infection of this nature which is already spreading within the local population.

The authorities should focus more on advising the public on the importance of good personal hygiene like frequent hand washing, avoiding crowded areas, self quarantine practices etc.

The infection will die out naturally after sometime and there is no need to panic. As long as the infection does not cause major mortalities we should not be too worried.

In fact, this mild infection is a blessing in disguise as it helps to boost the immune system of the general population.

I suspect the health authorities of the US with the largest number of H1N1 virus cases are deliberately allowing the infection to take its natural course so that the population can acquire the natural immunity.
