'Who ordered MACC to launch witch-hunt?'

your say Who gave the instruction to the MACC to start a campaign of intimidation and harassment against the Selangor Pakatan which set off a chain of events that ultimately led to Teoh’s death?

GH Kok: After all that has been said about Teoh Beng Hock's death, the real question is not about how he died or about interrogation techniques. It is not even about him. The real question should be - who gave the instruction to the MACC to start a campaign of intimidation and harassment against the Selangor Pakatan which set off a chain of events that ultimately led to Teoh’s death?

This is a question that no royal commission of inquiry will be allowed to ask. We can therefore not expect to have an answer. For if we do not ask the right questions, we can never get the right answers. There will be forces in the background working overtime to prevent the right questions from being asked.

Other pertinent questions are - how many other interrogations were happening around this time? Who have been called up? What is the pattern of intimidation? Why were they intimidated? What were they asked to admit to? What were they asked to sign?

I doubt the federal government inquiry (in whatever form it takes) will ask those questions. I therefore call on the Selangor government to set up its own inquiry immediately or do it in the form of a "Selcat inquiry".

Adcin: As more information filters through on the circumstances of Teoh's death, it is becoming clear that it is most unlikely that Teoh took his own life.

Najib as the PM must now decide whether he really wants to get to the bottom of this mess or try to sweep it under the carpet. At stake is his reputation as a leader and his vision of 1Malaysia. Already there are noises that the opposition is politicising the issue and turning it into a racial matter. That assertion is absurd when we know that the opposition is supposed to be pointing out shortcomings of the government and its administration.

The problem for Najib is to convince a skeptical public. After blatantly flouting their selective persecution on Pakatan reps, and thumbing their noses at us for pointing it out, it serves MACC right that they are losing this battle of perception. Any version of events now that exonerates the MACC will be seen as the government returning a favour and protecting it.

It is a no-win situation for both Najib and the MACC and this is the price that they pay for their unbridled transgressions at destabilising the opposition to usurp power.

Caught between a rock and a hard place, it is almost certain that Najib's supporters will resort to the very tactic that they accuse the opposition of trying to do, ie. politicise the issue and play the racist card. It may assuage some in Umno's traditional base but there will be many too who will feel that nothing can possibly justify the loss of an innocent life.

If we were playing chess now, the government is in a zugzwang, where any move they now make will result in a losing position. As leader, Najib must decide whether he wants to go through the motions, which will lead to the inevitable conclusion of loss of game or play his chess boldly and perhaps make a brilliant sacrifice to save the day.

CK: I think many people share Dr Lim Teck Ghee's view . Many of our friends, relatives or even strangers whom we have met at coffee shops, restaurants and supermarkets (Giants, Tesco, etc) couldn’t help but talk about this "hot issue ".

The situation was so obvious that many of us have already presumed what have happened to Teoh. Of course, the mainstream media would not produce much news on the issue but that does not mean that people would not talk about it.

P Dev Anand Pillai: We all know that nothing was, and has been, done after the last royal commission on the Lingam tape involving the appointment of judges.

The administration will fix the term of references, former judges who are aligned to them will be selected, the AG, the IGP and the chief commissioner of the MACC will have a hand in it and after that we will see many former cops and prosecutors, who have now become advocates and solicitors joining in the fray by being defence counsels.

So forget it folks, a better solution will be to create a 10.0 magnitude earthquake on the political landscape which will put all the deadwoods into the political pasture for good. After such an earthquake, you will see new seedlings grow without fear or favour and this is what that needs our support.

GSK: I read with disgust that the authorities in Malaysia, especially the police, are hounding Teoh’s family to be present at the Kajang police station to provide a statement regarding his death.

Please ensure that legal representatives are present to put a stop to any nonsense the police are up to. Better still, call in the foreign press to be present as well members of the Bar Council.

What kind of inhumane act is this? As if losing a son and fiance is not enough, they are now putting pressure on the family two days after the funeral.

How will the public ever trust the police, MACC or the BN government? Instead of going after the culprits, they are putting unnecessary pressure on the family and Teoh's fiancee, who is two months pregnant.

This madness by the government and the police has gone on too far. I hope the people will wake up and make an effort to change the government for good. We do not need this type of

government which instead of helping is oppressing the people.

A true Malaysian: No more words needed to be said. PM must set up the royal commission to investigate this matter in a transparent and professional manner. A precious life has been lost and the credibility of an important Malaysian institution is at stake. We need action now, not words.
