Thirteen supporters of the Abolish the ISA Movement (GMI) today pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to an alternative charge of participating in an illegal assembly last month.

Deputy public prosecutor Ishak Mohd Yusoff offered the alternative charge under Section 27(5)(a) of the Police Act 1967 which carries six months jail and fine up to RM10,000, if convicted.

NONE The thirteen were Mohamad Helmi Hassan, 31, Mohd Lokman Amad Ulawi, 22, Mohamad Fafizuddin Mohd Ghazali, 19, Saad Musa, 26, Mohd Fadzil Jan Jam, 25, Samsul Anuar Nordin, 29, Mohamad Ikhwan Ikram, 20, Kamarul Nadhir Kadini, 18, Shahrul Iman Mohamad Salleh, 25, Abu U'baidah Jalaluddin, 21, Ahmad Abdul Wahab Abdul Rahman, 24, Muhammad Sholihin Mat Salleh, 19, and a juvenile.

They were charged with helping the GMI by supplying six long-sleeve red coloured T-shirts for the assembly, which took place in Jalan Kinabalu, near the National Mosque on Aug 1.

For the offence, they can be jailed for three years and fined up to RM3,000.

Judge Muhammad Sekeri Mamat fixed Nov 13 for re-mention of the case.
