The Election Commission (EC) has refuted claims that the Army Basic Training Centre in Bagan Pinang did not use the voters' list issued by the commission during the postal voting for the Bagan Pinang by-election on Thursday.

State EC director Abdul Latif Baba said the voters' list displayed by armed forces at the hall where the postal voting was carried out was for the camp's administrative purposes.

The list was based on the postal voters at the camp comprising personnel and their spouses, he said in a statement.

"The list was for those on duty inside the camp while the rest were for

personnel carrying out operations on the field. Envelopes containing ballot papers were sent directly to these postal voters," he said.

PAS had objected to the postal voting, claiming that the name list given by the EC deferred from the list displayed during the voting.

There were 4,571 postal vote envelopes issued to the armed forces.

Abdul Latif said the EC carried out the postal voting process based on the Election Regulations (Postal Voting) 2003.
