'The PKFZ case has been taken out of Ong Tee Keat's hands with the formation of a super-task force to investigate (aka cover up) the scandal. Whether he goes or remains makes no difference.'
Liow elected deputy chief, no resignation from Ong
Lim Chong Leong: By the standards of the more matured democratic systems, a leader, having lost a no-confidence vote, must go. But in the present case, there is a Third Force at play trying to destroy the expose of a national scandal.
The Third Force wants to bury the Port Klang Free Zone debacle into our already shady past. To counter this, Ong Tee Keat must carry on at least until the PKFZ fiasco is fully exposed.
He seems to be the only one who will give in the Lim Kit Siang's pressure to expose the PKFZ issue, although very reluctantly.
Secondly, there is no one capable enough to take over. All the vice-presidents look like they are ready to make the MCA Umno's biggest eunuch partner anytime.
Kgen: The Port Klang Free Zone case has been taken out of Ong Tee Keat's hands with the formation of a super-task force to investigate (aka cover up) the scandal.
Whether Ong stays or not, makes no difference to getting to the bottom of PKFZ scandal, not when Umno calls the shots.
Observer: See? Didn't I tell you so? This selfish politician will not resign! He now wants to appear as a hero by calling for another EGM.
He must have been asked by the central committe to resign in order to respect the EGM's decision on Saturday, but he said that EGM vote was inconclusive. What a joke.
It only goes to show how a desperate man who has now lost all his honour will do by pulling down the party with him as he sinks....
Art Chan: Will there be yet another EGM to call for elections? Or will MCA go the way of Gerakan and become totally irrelevant?
And are we to have a new Makkal Sakthi Chinese Party formed, claiming to fight for Chinese rights... Just sit back and watch...
Amaso: For decades each president/prime minister of countries like the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, etc, has been able to resolve many domestic and international problems many times the size of the one MCA is presently facing.
Still we see them come and go just like one putting on a new clothes. This reinforces the age-old statement, ‘No one is indispensable'. Is Ong Tee Keat really indispensable?
Kumaran Palayathan : ‘The larger the base of support, the more credible the mandate'? Then what is the MCA central committee on about? The 2,400 delegates have already spoken. Act on it!
Leong Hwa Foo: I'm not sure if anyone is reading the above report correctly. We might be having Liow Tiong Lai as the next MCA president. This is going to be the death of the MCA.
Dood: So all that talk before the EGM that he was willing to step down if he loses the vote was all just an empty promise? I'm not surprised. This is, after all, MCA/BN.
Politicians who are out just looking for themselves. By not quitting as promised, he just makes Chua Soi Lek, who quit all his posts after being implicated in the sex video scandal, look like a much bigger man.
BN politicians suck, but you, Ong Tee Keat, just made yourself more sucky.
JLo: How can you say that we need Ong Tee Keat to continue investigating the PKFZ scandal when he admitted openly to getting free rides on Tiong King Sing's plane, not once but five times.
This after announcing so boldly that he will leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of it. A blatant conflict of interest.
Some more, he dares to turn around and scold Tiong for not sending him the invoices. He really thinks people are that dumb.
Stop Dreaming MIC: This decision to stay on for whatever flimsy self-interest is a serious refection of the integrity of a leader - more so, after he promised to quit should the 'no confidence' motion be carried.
The best thing Ong Tee Keat could do is to just quit as there are other capable MCA leaders that can steer the party.
Talk of the party constitution and two-thirds majority are but voices of people with no integrity and an attempt at ‘sandiwara' politics.
Prime Minister Najib Razak should drop Ong from the cabinet and put the matter to rest. Keeping Ong in the cabinet would be a disgrace to the country.
Ong is nothing close to S Samy Vellu but if Ong stays for even a second longer, that may make Samy look good. We wouldn't want that, would we?
