Umno the kingmaker of MCA's throne

your say 'Having Chua Soi Lek to appeal to the minister is another attempt to put MCA under Umno's thumb, and effectively removing the power of the delegates.'

Soi Lek disagrees with Hisham over ROS

Cala: If one needs two-thirds of the total central delegates to sack the MCA president, then the same rule should apply in sacking the deputy president. After all, that is the principle of equality. These two top posts should operate under the same institutional framework and constrained by the same rules.

In simple term, there must be fairness for two, not just one. OTK (Ong Tee Keat) was hiding below the skirts of his appointed chairman of disciplinary committee, and naturally the latter would dance to the music of OTK. That is not fairness. That is a display of dictatorship.

Rolando: The ROS (Registrar of Societies) must act professionally. If the matter is within the framework of their responsibility, they must respond accordingly. It should give either a clarification or a firm rejection. If the latter is beyond the scope of their work then don't pass the buck. I really cannot see the need to appeal to the minister at all.

Wira: Chua Soi Lek is referring to the "due process of law" whereas Hishammuddin Hussein regards the executive power of the cabinet is, effectively, the law. One is the rule of law and the other, rule of man.

Lim Chong Leong: By the ROS not wanting to decide on Chua Soi Lek's deputy position and having Chua to appeal to the minister is another attempt to put MCA under Umno's thumb, and effectively removing the power of the delegates.

Chua and Liow must now suck up to Hisham'keris'mudin. Now Umno basically decides who is to be MCA deputy president. The "winner" will ultimately be indebted to Hisham, who ironically raised his keris against the people whom MCA claims to represent.

Dr Jacob George: Embarrassing again! Our ministers need to get acquainted with the statutes books, more so, former practicing lawyers! It will save them the blushes and from looking plainly mediocre. Dr Chua Soi Lek is certainly right and ROS has the power to intervene.

Loyal Malaysian: As an onlooker into the MCA's intrigues, I fault not OTK for the actions he has taken. Yes, it's disgraceful for him to bow to pressures from Umno, but when has MCA ever stood up against its political master in recent times.

Yes, he did not resign despite losing the vote of no-confidence, but when has keeping one's own word been a noted characteristic of the Umnoputras (he's one of them, too, ain't he?).

Post-MCA crisis: Quo Vadis Liow?

Lusiapa: Voters of Bentong, do you still want this chap (Liow Tiong Lai) to represent you in Parliament? His true colours have been made unmistakably clear these past few weeks - the greed and lust for power are so obvious.

Liew Chee-Kong: LTL (Liow Tiong Lai) just got snookered. That's politics, you live by the sword, you die by the sword. C'est la vie...

PM Moey: ‘Brutus' Liow was caught holding the knife when the musical chair stops. There are many more ‘Brutuses' in MCA, which is to be expected in a self-opportunists' party like the MCA. The Hokkien Chinese would say, ‘liow-lah' for Liow. He's finished.
