Malaysiakini's 10th Anniversary Dinner (MAD) guests are going to have ‘MAD' fun with two exciting celebrities who will be emcees for the night - Daphne Iking and Will Quah - at the Sime Darby Convention Centre on Nov 28.

If you're a fan of NTV7's ‘The Breakfast Show', you will know the bubbly Sabahan Iking. You also might have seen her in the recent Wacky Bar play held at the PJ Live Arts Centre.

NONE She was also in the '15Malaysia' short film, ‘Gerhana' directed by James Lee and is very much in demand as an emcee. A true Jill-of-all-trades, Iking is also a talented writer, dancer and model.

A fan of Malaysiakini , Iking congratulates the popular news website on its 10th year of "delivering fast, accurate, independent news on diverse subjects" affecting the country.

Being always on the go, she likes skimming through Malaysiakini as the stories are thorough yet concise.

" Malaysiakini covers an array of views with what seems to be a fair form of investigative reporting, something we need more of in our local media," said Iking. "I look forward to watching Malaysiakini grow and continue to expand."

'We have a right to know'

Will Quah is another familiar face in the entertainment scene.

If you haven't seen him hosting shows on Channel V or NTV7, you would probably would have heard his voice on radio during his stint on RedFM. He also has a passion for writing, contributing to publications that include the Malay Mail , FHM , Harper's Bazaar and Vision KL .

When asked if he is looking forward to the dinner, he said, "I'm excited about the Malaysiakini dinner because it's going to rock! Some of the most-in-the-know and fearless people in one room? It's going to be the best night out of the year."

NONE Quah says it is extremely important that everyone supports independent media, "...because without it, we'll only ever get one side of the story".

He surmises that journalism is a dying art in this country; a landscape now dominated by gossip blogs and TV propaganda mills.

Quah thinks Malaysiakini fills a much -needed niche, providing news that is unbiased and unfiltered. "It's our country, and we have a right to know what's going on in it."

With Iking and Quah on board, guests at the Malaysiakini gala dinner can expect a fun-filled night.

The duo already have quite a chemistry as co-hosts on ‘The Breakfast Show', so expect to see that synergy at MAD. Don't forget to join us for a night of laughs, entertainment and pure fun.
