Why didn't the cops arrest Bala?
Bala has made two conflicting statutory declarations and that is a crime punishable by a jail term if convicted. If indeed RM5 million was offered to him ... then the severity of his crime is compounded further.
Bala was in town, now on Youtube
Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: If Malaysiakini can contact and communicate with Bala, then surely the police force with all their resources can get to him.
Bala has made two conflicting statutory declarations and that is a crime punishable by a jail term if convicted. If indeed RM5 million was offered to him and that was the motivating factor for his retraction of his first SD, then the severity of his crime is compounded further.
The fact that the police has to date not even apprehended him is testimony to the fact that this is yet another classic sweeping of Najib Razak's dirt under the carpet. Even the blindest of the rakyat can now see the overwhelmingly glaring evidence on what the police force stands for.
They have never stood for upholding the law, protecting the public and ensuring the rakyat's safety. They are merely thugs in uniform - having guns and authority - serving the corrupt agenda of BN, but paid by taxpayers.
Dr Jacob George: He's neither a ‘hero' nor a ‘saint', just another 'rascal' and ‘opportunist' who is upset that he did not get his RM5 million, and now he is using the media as a blackmailing tool. Why all this 'cloak and dagger' and 'media play' business if he's serious about justice!
Norjoharuddeen Mohd Nor: Bala is no opportunist. We must understand that he had been under a lot of pressure since his first statutory declaration and he made that declaration willingly. He didn't go into exile because of the promised RM5 million, but for the threats from those in the corridors of power against him and his family.
His revealing of himself now is nothing more than a strategy to fight the evil of all evils. Just when Najib and Rosmah thought that they are getting comfy in Seri Perdana, boom, here comes Bala. It is our duty to spread Bala's story.
Truman: What is the point of spreading Bala's words when we, members of the public, do not know whether he possesses any solid evidence or not. What if in the end we found out that he is merely a political tool of Pakatan Rakyat, solely dedicated to bringing down the present government? I don't think it would be fair or just to anyone of us.
If he really has any real evidence, he should just show it on Youtube, if he doesn't trust the government. It is that simple.
Dr M on selling water to the rich, Pak Lah's charity
Loyal Malaysian: I'm not sure I understand the direction of the ex-dictator's venom. If Najib's still PM in 2011, he will be negotiating the new water deals. What has that got to do with Pak Lah? He has rode into the sunset - let him enjoy his retirement even if you don't like yours!
Kanesin SVS Sappania Pillay: Tun Mahathir should speak out on incidents of large-scale corruption all around us, one being the PKFZ scandal, rather than harping on a legitimate contract of water supply with Singapore. This is ironic because Tun is famous for his "prosper thy neighbour" rhetoric. Tun, can't we be charitable with nature's gifts? 1Malaysia, 1Asean.
Gk: Who signed the two water treaties which are going to end in 2011 and 2060 respectively on the behalf of Malaysia and committed at 3 sen per thousand gallons? Before signing the treaties, were there any in-depth studies conducted? Any revision clauses of price in the treaties? Who then should be blamed if the terms and conditions are not in Malaysia's favour?
I hope there were no elements of "stupidity", "ignorance" or even "corruption" on our side before we decided to go ahead with the treaties. Maybe at that point of time, Malaysia deemed the water as "longkang" water and sell cheap without even thinking of the implications. If that was the case, then who is to be blamed?
S'gor to rein in 'wayward' preachers
Rayfire: When so-called defenders of religion impose conditions on the proper delivery of prepared text for prayer and sermons, it seems like the forcing of people to tow the line without giving them the opportunity to explore and love their religion for what it truly is. Sorry to say this, but religion doesn't need you, you need religion.
The more freedom you give someone to explore their religion themselves, the more they will willingly accept and love their religion for its true value. This approach taken by the authorities will only generate more followers who will blindly follow religious doctrine without proper appreciation of its true meanings and intent.
I believe one of the most importance virtues in being religious is tolerance - that seems to be very lacking in our nation. God, please guide us to the right path and let us find you through selflessness.
