The Petaling Jaya Sessions Court has fixed Feb 13 next year for the trial of a police constable charged with causing grievous hurt to A Kugan, who died while in police custody.

Judge Aslam Zainuddin fixed one week for the trial today.
V Navindran, 28, of the Subang USJ police station faces two counts of causing grievous hurt to Kugan, 23, to extract a confession from him.
The offences were allegedly committed at the interrogation room of the D9 office, Taipan police station, Subang Jaya, at 7am and 4pm on Jan 16.
Navindran faces two alternative charges of causing hurt to Kugan at the same place and time. Kugan was detained by police on Jan 15 on suspicion of being involved in a car theft but died several days later.
Navindran was represented by counsel Raj Pal Singh while deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Abazafree Mohd Abbas appeared for the prosecution.
