Three more Universiti Malaya undergraduates will be charged on Monday for allegedly vandalising university property with derogatory remarks aimed at first lady Rosmah Mansor.

The trio are Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin, Muhammad Aizat Roslan and Muhammad Saufi Jelani, according to a statement by student body Solidariti Mahasiswa Malaysia (SMM).

They are charged with tresspassing, arson and scrawling graffiti, which are offences under sections 427, 436 and 447 of the Penal Code.

The students will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court in Jalan Duta.

NONE On July 13, two other UM students, Mohd Izzuddin Hilmi Mohamad Zaini ( blue shirt ), and Mohd Syahruldeen Ahmad Rosli ( orange shirt ), were charged with the same offence.

Izzuddin Hilmi and Syahruldeen's case will be heard by Sessions Court judge Rozana Ali Yusoff between Monday and Friday.

It is expected that the case involving the other three individuals will be heard by the same judge.

The five students are said to have vandalised a lecture hall with words such as C4, ' pembunuh Altantuya' (Altantuya's murderer) and ‘ bini puaka' (evil wife) in reference to Rosmah.

rosmah mansor najib wife The alleged act of vandalism took place at 4am on June 24, hours before Rosmah was to enter hall for a function.

The students were also alleged to have splashed petrol on the red carpet.

Should the five be found guilty, they can be charged with a combination of penalties:

  • Section 427 carries a maximum jail sentence of two years, a fine or both
  • Section 436 carries a maximum jail sentence of 10 years, a fine or both
  • Section 447 carries a six-month jail sentence, a maximum fine of RM3,000, or both
