Manohara ordered to be loyal to 'perfect husband'

The Kota Baharu Syariah High Court today ordered Manohara Odelio Pinot to be loyal and pay back RM1,112,250 owed to her husband, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra, the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan.

In his judgment, Syarie Judge Mohd Yusof Awang said the order would be effective once Tengku Muhammad Fakhry took the "Yamin Istizhar" oath in court on Jan 3 next year.

He said Manohara would be compelled to be loyal within 14 days after Tengku Muhammad Fakhry took the oath and would have to return the money in lump sum within 30 days.

"I am satisfied with the testimony of the plaintiff and witnesses and order that the defendant be loyal and pay the money owed to her husband the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan," he said.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry was in court to hear the court's decision. Manohara who held the title of Cik Puan Temenggong was absent.

The Indonesian model was not represented by counsel after Mohd Faiz Adnan and Roshdan Sujak Rafie withdrew on Nov 3.

Yusof said Manohara's action in fleeing to Indonesia and making slanderous statements to the media was wrong in Islam as she was well treated by her husband at Istana Mahkota.

"The defendant received more than most women and should be thankful to the plaintiff and royal family who did resort to using the media and Internet to spread lies.

"The plaintiff had been a perfect husband and the question of torture does not arise. As such, the defendant has no reason to act in such a manner."

Tengku Muhammad thankful

Yusof said if Manohara refused to be loyal in 14 days, Islamic law would make her a disloyal (nusyuz) wife and had no right to any privileges from her husband.

He said since Manohara failed to appear in court to testify, the court considered her denial that the money was a gift as irrelevant.

"I have studied the documents and found that there was transaction of money to the defendant and the court concurs that the plaintiff's testimony can be accepted and recorded," he said.

Outside court, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry said he was happy and thankful for the decision and urged all parties to accept it.

"All parties need to respect the decision," he said.

Asked whether he was hopeful that Manohara would be loyal to him, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry replied; "Certainly".
