Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has expressed the hope that the problem affecting the Kelantan palace can be speedily resolve to protect the integrity of the institution.

azlan He said that the state government would not interfere in the matter as only the palace was able to resolve the issue.

He was asked to comment on the statement by the Kelantan sultan office yesterday that the Tengku Temenggong, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry, has no authority under the state constitution to act on behalf of the Kelantan sultan who is undergoing treatment in Singapore.

Nik Abdul Aziz said all parties should be grateful as Malaysia managed to safeguard its rulers' institution.

He added that if the institution was not respected and safeguarded by all, including among members of the royal court themselves, this would affect the credibility of the system which is enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
