Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, the accuser in Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy trial, has dismissed the suggestion that he had been influenced by the premier and his wife to level the allegation.

“No, no, no… It is not true. I will testify tomorrow. Everything will be (revealed) in court,” Mohd Saiful told reporters after leaving the witness room at the Kuala Lumpur High Court where the hearing is taking place.

He said it is “most possible” that he will be the first witness to be called when the trial starts tomorrow, but stressed that he is not sure of this.

Mohd Saiful, who appeared calm and was accompanied by his lawyer Zamri Idrus, said he felt a bit tired after being held at the witness room since 8am today, but that the waiting had “strengthened” his resolve.

He also said he is glad that, after a wait of a year and half for the trial to begin, he will have a chance to prove his allegation.

Asked if he is confident of securing a conviction, Mohd Saiful replied: “ Insyaallah (God willing).”

azlan Anwar has long claimed to be the victim of a political conspiracy.

He has alleged that Mohd Saiful had acted under the influence of Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor, given that he had met them two days before lodging the police report.

Anwar said earlier today that he wants the two to be summoned as witnesses at his trial.

In July 2008, Najib admitted having received Mohd Saiful at his home. Then the deputy prime minister, Najib said he had advised Mohd Saiful to lodge a police report over the alleged sodomy.

Najib also said Mohd Saiful, a Universiti Tenaga dropout, had approached him on another occasion at his Putrajaya office to seek his help in obtaining a government scholarship .
