'Even though he's expected to lose as he does not have the Umnoputras' blessings to contest, but it will show the puppet master's hand even more.'
Tee Keat hints at defending post
Louis: Ong Tee Keat (OTK) should defend his post. I cannot imagine MCA being led by a ‘porn star', and two alleged corrupted guys. If those guys are leaders, they are easier to control by the powers-that-be.
David: I don't think it's fair to call someone a porn star just because that person was secretly videotaped by his political rivals for having sex with someone who is not his wife. Who you screw is your bloody business, even in politics, unless you have other demerits the public needs to be aware of.
I'd rather have a political leader who is human in reasonable ways than an outright thief who is more immoral than the rest but acts like he is clean and capable. Having said that, I still pray that MCA and the rest of BN sink sooner rather than later, together with the reluctant 'porn star' and his MCA ‘frenemies'.
Loyal Malaysian: Come to think of it, OTK should defend his post. Even though he's expected to lose as he does not have the Umnoputras' blessings to contest, but it will show the puppet master's hand even more.
Lahore San: The mechanism for holding the post in the party is the election by the delegates. Nothing will change despite OTK's attempt to remove CSL (Chua Soi Lek) through his cohorts in the disciplinary committee.
The hypocrisy in him showed when he championed the issue of PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone). OTK himself is not clean and free from dirt when he accepted favours from the figure at the centre of the PKFZ storm, Tiong King Sing.
Now it is damage control, and he is getting a good dose humility from his advisors (although it is too little, too late). Those who did not agree with him were sacked and removed from their positions (mirroring his treatment of CSL) and his mending of fences has come too late. He ruled by the sword, he will die by it.
Dingy: OTK doesn't have the support of Umno. He won't stand a chance to be re-elected as MCA president. Ong can do better to fight from outside BN. Join CJM (Chua Jui Meng) and you will be in the cabinet should Pakatan Rakyat take over Putrajaya. The rakyat are will Pakatan. We cannot accept a tainted leader in Najib Razak or CSL.
Cala: How do you explain OTK's series of blunders which he commits one after another? One way to explain his irrational behaviour and greed for power lies in the 'institutions of MCA president'.
To my mind, the incentive structure for MCA president is simply monstrous. Let me give you three examples:
i) he is the CEO of a vehicle that has amassed an asset base of RM2 billion ( The Star is his docile mouthpiece);
ii) look at his operational power in appointing 10 (or so) central committee members;
iii) he gets to appoint all state liaison committee chiefs loyal to him; and
iv) He gets to appoint the party's disciplinary committee.
In sum, there is no point having a deputy president because this poor chap is made a dead-duck from day one.
Abdul Rahman Lim: Unless MCA leaders stand firmly with their bold principles of championing the Chinese Malaysians and not bow to pressures of big bully Umno, they may never see light at the end of the tunnel.
Their popularity took a massive dive before the 12th general elections that saw them out of place in the entire government machinery. And unless they upkeep their role to check corruption like what they did with the PKFZ scandal, they may never be accepted to represent the Chinese Malaysians ever again. Their ‘yes master' attitude had been detrimental to their fight for survival.
SusahKes: Ong, if you're really sincere bout this ‘MCA not depending on Umno crutches' thing, then do one last thing before you presumably bow out: reveal everything on PKFZ. Joe Public is well aware that there is more to it than meets the eye.
If you want to be remembered well, then do what is right. Unless of course, you too are equally afraid at what the ‘other side' would reveal about you.
Ong Guan Sin: Who says Umno has not opened its membership to non-Malays? It has, via its subsidiary called MCA. And many in the thousands joined by default without knowing it themselves. How sad is the state of MCA today.
Keturunan Malaysia: Some emperors died because of the advisers. Some advisers died because of the emperors. Sometimes both died because they never get any wiser.
