Umno harassment, Pakatan recruitment

your say 'Umno's harassment is only drawing more and more support for Anwar Ibrahim, PKR and Pakatan amongst both the educated and the ordinary.'

'Anwar 360' show a magnet

Sarawakian: If Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak thinks that his oppressive methods will win him friends, he is very much mistaken. The use of the police, judiciary, the MACC and the rest of the civil service will only add more nails into his coffin. ‘Sodomy ll' and the buying over of opposition members will be his biggest mistakes.

Treat the people like fools at your own peril. Anyone can tell him that he's not doing things the right way. Instead of looking after the country as he was appointed to do, he has wasted our money on unnecessary things. I just can't wait for the next general election and so do many others.

RR: Umno's harassment and injustice over a myriad of cases and issues are only drawing more and more support for Anwar Ibrahim, PKR and Pakatan Rakyat amongst both the educated and the ordinary.

The important matter is for Pakatan to scrutinise and then evaluate every candidate for the coming general elections so that unprincipled politicians are weeded out. Only politicians dedicated to serving the people should be selected. Pakatan must not repeat the mistakes of Umno/BN of cronyism if it wants to gain power and retain it.

Multi Racial: The PM must have surrounded himself with people who are selfish and racist. Otherwise he would not have made such suicidal moves. Right now, it is obvious the tide has turned against BN and Umno for instigating the crossovers from PKR.

Frankly, the rakyat are pleased that certain representatives have left Pakatan as they don't fit in with our reform agenda. All of those who left came from the same old school as BN's politicians. They cannot and will not change. So Malaysians will change for them at the next elections.

Cala: Anwar is the lighthouse of tomorrow. Who has no dream? Who does not want a brighter future for his children? Who wants to feel deprived? Who does not want progress? Who cannot see that almost every social and political institution is being decimated by the Umno-led BN government?

Who would accept a regime that displays authoritarian tendency? And so who else but Anwar is the man of the hour who represents the citizens? His continued harassment by instruments of the executive is a living testimony of an oppressive regime at work.

Anwar's personal sufferings are reflection of the people's sufferings. But hope is something they continue to look forward to. Anwar, hence, is the lighthouse of tomorrow. If there is no hope, what then is tomorrow for?

Paradox: Anwar, since you refused to address seriously issues concerning the Indian poor, don't dream about conquering Putrajaya without the Indians vote. You are no better than Umno.

Anyway, don't show your ‘wayang kulit' to us because we are not entertained at all. The best strategy for winning back the Indian vote is by collaborating with HRP/Hindraf by fulfilling their demands for equal rights. Are you willing to do that?

Fairnessforall: Speak for yourself. I am an Indian Malaysian and I and many of my Indian friends and relatives support Pakatan simply because we have the brains to realise that until one is in federal power, there is really nothing much he or she can do.

We realise that since BN has done nothing for the people (and I'm not talking only about the Indians but about all Malaysians) then we should give Pakatan a fair chance. And until Pakatan takes over Putrajaya, it is not fair for anyone to judge them on whether they have done this or not done that.

KayKay: This is just advertising. Pakatan has disappointed the Indian community, Sabah and Sarawak. Without them, there's no way that Pakatan is going to capture Putrajaya. This issue has not been addressed.

Instead, according to the above report, Anwar was frothing at the mouth and did not seem to know whether he was coming or going. What is his take on the issue of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement, the 20-Point agreement, state rights, the oil and gas revenue and the autonomy of the Malaysian Borneo states? The Indians want to know what Pakatan is doing to end their continued marginalisation and exclusion from the mainstream.

What is Pakatan's stand on the Umno government unilaterally extending special privileges to all aspects of life in Malaysia? What about HRP and Hindraf?

Justice Seeker: Pakatan has only ruled four states for two years. How much can they do to alleviate the Indian predicament? As far I know, Selangor has helped the Indians in some ways.

Recently they appointed 45 community leaders to represent the Indian community.

As for Anwer, he will always be indebted to the Indian community not only for aiding in the 2008 ‘tsunami' but also for the string of Indian lawyers who have been loyally defending him against the Umno/BN government As for equal rights, we have to respect the constitutional rights conferred on the bumiputera of the land.

But give Pakatan a chance to become the federal government and I am sure they will rectify the situation. But anyway, I just want to ask, in what way has the Indian community benefitted in voting for BN for 50 years.

Some Indian politicians have stolen all the money allocated to the Indian community. The Indians have been deprived in every sphere of life in Malaysia - that's what the MIC and BN have done for the Indian community.

Black Mamba: None in Umno can speak to a crowd like Anwar Ibrahim. It will be a long long time before you see another orator of his caliber in Malaysian politics.
