The introduction of 'Middle Malaysia' by the DAP is a reaction to '1Malaysia', said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

NONE Najib, who was present in the Dewan Rakyat today, opened the question-and-answer session in Parliment by taking questions on '1Malaysia'.

Kapit BN MP Alexander Nanta Linggi asked what the difference was between the premier's brainchild and DAP's middle path of inclusiveness.

"When 1Malaysia became so popular, suddenly they (DAP) came up with Middle Malaysia," said Najib on the opposition party's concept which was announced at the its 15th national conference in Ipoh in December.

"It is actually a re-branding of 'Malaysian Malaysia'. But 'Malaysian Malaysia' has been rejected by the people. When it was rejected, they tried to introduce it again.

The premier added that 'Malaysian Malaysia' concept revived by DAP in 1999 and advocating the establishment of a Malaysian nation, was not accepted by the people.

"'Malaysian Malaysia' did not follow the constitution. It was just rhetoric and sloganeering. ‘1Malaysia', however, comes complete with an action plan, of people first and performance now, said Najib.

Altantuya issue

He then explained that '1Malaysia' is a concept that the can be viewed in many ways.

"I hope that the celebration of ‘1Malaysia' becomes the norm whenever the public gather. This will help people to gain from it," said Najib, adding that the special privileges of natives are also upheld under the concept.

The premier's response which drew cheers from the BN MPs, turned into jeers when Bukit Gelugor DAP MP Karpal Singh, interjected and questioned Najib's virtues.

Karpal, caused a ruckus when he raised the issues of Najib's connections to murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan and Najib's special officer Nasir Safar during the oral question session.

The veteran MP asked how could the prime minister achieve '1Malaysia' and unite the rakyat if he has people like Nasir in his administration.

Najib then retorted that if any government officer made controversial statements, action would be taken against him.
