Perak BN assembly speaker R Ganesan lodged a police report today claiming that Tronoh state assemblyperson V Sivakumar was masquerading as the speaker.

He claimed that Sivakumar had used a letterhead of the Perak assembly speaker to send a notice on the state assembly meeting on March 30.

NONE Sivakumar was relieved from the speaker’s post on May 7 last year and this was verified by the Ipoh High Court, Ganesan ( right ) told reporters after making the report at the Ipoh district police headquarters.

He said Sivakumar's masquerade was also in contempt of court.

Ganesan said he made the police report to safeguard the integrity of the State Assembly, adding that action should be taken against any honourable member of the House who acted at his whims and fancies as the speaker and defied the ruling of the Ipoh High Court.

He said Sivakumar's actions and statements could cause confusion in the assembly and among the people of Perak.

"We ask the authorities to initiate an investigation and take stern action against the Tronoh assemblyman. Although police reports have been made earlier, the assemblyman continues to act as he likes, exceeding the legal limits," he said.

Soon after, Ganesan was installed as the assembly speakers by BN state representatives.

State assembly to meet on March 30

Ganesan had sent a notice on March 1 to all assemblymen announcing the meeting of the assembly on March 30.

Yesterday, Perak Barisan Nasional Back Benchers Club (BNBBC) chairperson Nadzri Ismail made a police report against Sivakumar on the same matter.

Nazri, who is Manjoi state assemblyperson, said he would lodge a complaint against Sivakumar with the House Rights and Privileges Committee.

Meanwhile, Ipoh police chief ACP Azisman Alias, when contacted, said the police had received both reports and would launch an investigation.
