The conflict between MIC president S Samy Vellu and his former deputy S Subramaniam has boiled over into the Hulu Selangor by-election campaign.

subramaniam mied 160110 In the latest twist, Subramaniam ( left ) denied allegations that he was sabotaging current deputy president, G Palanivel from becoming the BN candidate for the semi-rural seat.

The Samy owned Tamil daily, Tamil Nesan, has alleged that Subramaniam is the one acting behind the scenes, spearheading a campaign to prevent MIC and Palanivel from contesting for the Parliament seat.

In response to this allegation, Subramaniam said, "Everyone knows that the calls against Palanivel and MIC are coming from Umno because MIC is weak and not popular among Indians."

The daily also alleged that Subramaniam is instigating people to stand as independent candidates.

The independent candidates are made up of MIC members who have fallen out of favour with Samy, claimed S Subramaniam.

Subramaniam also said that Tamil Nesan had gone to great efforts to link Maika Holdings shareholder, S Nadarajah with him.

NONE Nadarajah was reported to have been beaten up by men linked to Samy during the party president's political gathering in Taman Bukit Teratai, Kuala Kubu Baru yesterday.

Subramaniam said that Nadarajah has a long history of feuds and legal battles over Maika Holdings.

In an immediate reaction, Samy ( left ) questioned why Subramaniam was upset over the story in the Tamil Nesan .

"If with one article, he can get offended, what about the thousands of articles that he has published in Makkal Osai against me and the party. Because of him and his paper, people are angry at us."

The Samy-Subra feud began in the late 1970s when Samy defeated Subramaniam for the party presidency.

Subramaniam was MIC's no 2 man before being defeated by Palanivel in 2006. In 2009 Subramaniam lost to Palanivel again .
