Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia today confirmed that the motion to refer Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to the Rights and Privileges Committee will be tabled on April 22.

Pandikar ( left in photo ) was responding to a question from Anwar (PKR-Permatang Pauh, right in photo ), who requested a clarification on the matter after the Question session this morning.

The government is attempting to censure Anwar for insinuating that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's '1Malaysia' concept had its roots in the 'One Israel' initiative.

According to Anwar, the link was multinational public relations firm Apco Worldwide, a company commissioned by Najib's administration.

Anwar argued that Najib had put the country at risk because Apco has strong Zionist links.

Both the government and Apco had denied this. The government is now trying to censure Anwar for misleading the House.

tian chua 03 240505 Earlier, Tian Chua (PKR Batu, left ) also stood up to ask about the status of his notice, delivered yesterday, to table a motion for the House to urge the government to terminate Apco's services.

The Speaker informed him that his notice, which was delivered only after 10am yesterday, will only be decided on tomorrow.

Pandikar also hit out at the government for its constant extension of parliamentary hours.

"Sometimes the sessions are extended till late at night. The reason given is lack of time for debate. The problem is not the lack of time but because the speeches are too long-winded," he noted.

"Every time a notice to extend the hours is sent to me to be signed, I am very reluctant to sign. When we debate until late at night only a few MPs are present - it is less than the quorum, if one were to be called."

He admonished the MPs not to give long speeches or prolong the debates with altercations.

"I have given instructions to my deputies. If there are MPs who are contentious, order them out (of the House) to cool down first."

Police report lodged 

In a related development, PKR Youth lodged a police report today against Najib and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

The report was made at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

NONE Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin also submitted the letter of acceptance of the service contract between the government and Apco "to provide public relations services, daily management and government relations outreach".

PKR Youth said Najib and Khairy should be investigated for their alleged involvement or interests in Apco or related personnel.

"We may use this information during the Hulu Selangor by-election campaign so that people understand (the potential threat this poses to the national interest)," he said.

PKR Youth will send a letter to Organisation of the Islamic Conference, urging it to consider Malaysia’s status as a member-country, he said.

Also present were Jerai parliamentarian and PAS representative Mohd Firdaus Jaafar, Padang Terap parliamentarian Nasir Zakaria and PKR Youth Federal Territories chief Mohd Zaman.
