'Pakatan must be warned that we have no qualms to suffer another 10 years under BN if it means Pakatan is just another clone of the ruling coalition...'
If BN jumps off a cliff, would Pakatan follow suit?
Myop101: Pakatan Rakyat must be warned that we have no qualms to suffer another 10 years under BN if it means Pakatan is just another lousy clone of the ruling coalition until another proper, viable coalition arise that is accountable, transparent and truly acts for the rakyat.
With whatever little power Pakatan has, they are already playing dirty, do you expect them to change for the better once they are in Putrajaya? That says much about who is being idealistic. I distrust politicians and I expect them to behave at all times, not when the going is easy.
Nicholas: I strongly agree. I am slowly losing faith in Pakatan already. If they don't buck up soon, I might revert back to voting BN in the next general election. Change, Pakatan, before it is too late.
Beetle: Pakatan should take note of this. Pakatan pots should stop calling the kettle black. We want a government that is accountable and transparent.
Wira: "If BN had been corrupt for 50 years, why can't we be on the take for two?"
Many of us see BN an anathema of Pakatan, of everything evil and corrupt. I don't think we should be made to expect anything less.
Raymond Guan: Pakatan knows which ‘sins' they should spare us. But just in case they need reminding, somebody should come up with the seven deadly sins that they should not commit. Let me start: 1. Corruption 2. Murder. 3 ...
P Dev Anand Pillai: I knew that this issue would be questioned sooner or later the moment the Selangor menteri besar opened his mouth to reply to the reporter who asked.
We have to note that the BN government has never been a government that has set good examples to follow. For decades, opposition politicians have been manning their services centres from the monthly allowances and stipends that they get as elected represented, they complained and asked for their allocations, but the BN government just couldn't be bothered.
Now when it is the turn of the opposition to run the government, you expect them to be nice to the BN? That is the reason why the MB said let them show the way first with allocations for every elected representative irrespective of parties, and Selangor will do the same.
So it is a tit-for-tat situation because for some, they will only realise how bitter their medicine is when they taste it for themselves.
Luke: Pakatan has to utilise all available resources and fight to win. BN has the full machinery of the federal government, press, etc. Both PM and DPM are already campaigning.
This is a fight to the death, where moral and ethical niceties have no place. If Pakatan takes over Putrajaya, then we can realistically hold them to a higher standards. For now, it's ‘who dares wins'.
Voter-get-Voters campaign for GE13: We have to be realistic, not idealistic. The government of the day at the federal level is BN. They should lead by example and, of course, Pakatan at the state level is doing what BN has always been and is still doing.
The reasoning in this article is very childish, whereas politics is not for children. If, and when, Pakatan gets into Putrajaya, I hope they set a better example on the issue of separation of powers.
If you can't beat them, join them, by all means. Except frauds and frogs.
Lonestar: The rakyat must also take responsibility for the present mess we are in. The rakyat is also why the BN is what it is today. One cannot fight clean when the fight is dirty. One needs to fight fire with fire at times. Like the present.
And when the fight is over this time around, the rakyat must be vigilant and ensure that the winner of the fight keeps to the straight and narrow. If you can spare the parents from ‘sins' and ‘indiscretions' and still say what you have to say today, then the rakyat may have to do the same for the ‘sins' and ‘indiscretions' of Pakatan presently.
JKK: Baru dua tahun, ma. Give them sometime, and they will bloom to the fullest. The MB is a full asset of the rakyat, his actions are pro-active, forward thinking and ‘rakyat-based'.
SKT: This is the system/game that BN has set up to play in the last 52 years. I remember how my parents answered "Everyone else was doing it" when I told them the books in the school were boring. Thank God, I took their advice or else I might not even finish my secondary education today.
If your kids tell you that school's boring, ask them to study hard first till they become the education minister.
Pornthip says she's willing to testify
Loyal Malaysian: The ball is in the home minister's court. If there's no truth to the informal signals sent to Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, there should be no problem for the Malaysian government to give the iron-clad guarantee requested.
Moontime: Dr Pornthip said: "I don't take such criticisms seriously. After all, I am a Buddhist and as such, I'm selfless."
The statement above shows a very significant difference between a small-minded person such as Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz and a big-hearted, courageous and selfless person such as Dr Pornthip.
