Election Commission chairman Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof (

However, he said that it is normal occurrence in every by-election for a lot of forms to be sold.
“Maybe they just bought a lot so that they can minimise errors when filling up the forms. Besides, they are cheap,” he said, adding that the forms retail at RM20 each.
Abdul Aziz also said that two candidates have paid their deposits to run for the Hulu Selangor polls.
“One is from BN and another one is an independent candidate,” he said without elaborating.
It is expected that the by-election will see a straight fight between PKR’s Zaid Ibrahim and BN’s P Kamalanathan but former Hulu Selangor MIC division deputy head VS Chandran and businessman Johan Mohd Diah have both announced their intentions to contest.
Happy with Hulu Selangor
Abdul Aziz also said that he is pleased with the run-up to the Hulu Selangor polls with nominations tomorrow and the polling day on Apr 25.
“The local council has done a good job with their enforcement works in the area,” he said.
He also said that he has not received any official reports of skirmishes and dissatisfaction.
“But as far as the EC is concerned, campaigning only starts tomorrow,” he said.
“I know that some leaders from both federal and state governments have gone down to see the voters but they say that the activities have been planned for a while already.
“With that, it is hard to accuse them of campaigning,” he said.
