PKR election director Fuziah Salleh demanded that the EC take the responsibility to inform the 13,488 voters in Hulu Selangor they had relocated with regard to their polling stations.

Lashing out at the commission for being "incompetent and irresponsible", the Kuantan PKR MP said the commission's failure was embarrassing to the entire establishment.

On Monday, PKR revealed that they discovered about one-fifths of the total number of voters in Hulu Selangor had been transferred to different polling stations, from the ones they had voted at during the general election in 2008.

"Don't deny the people their democratic rights and make their life easier," she told reporters at PKR's operations headquarters in Kuala Kubu Baru.

"We have also opened up a hotline and the number is 019 326 0874. Voters can send a text message to this number to find out where their polling stations are," she said.

The EC had explained that the transfer of voters was to avoid congestion and was made in accordance with Section 7 of the Elections Act 1958.

Zaid appeals for voters own initiative

PKR's candidate Zaid Ibrahim who was also present at the press conference today, pleaded to the Election Commission to act fairly.

NONE "The EC should be more responsible when giving out answers and don't just deny the rights of the voters," he said.

"Explain and take responsibility. How can the voters be transferred without the voters knowing where to go and without the opposition informed?," he asked.

"Is this how you run a country and run an election? I hope in the next few days the EC will act soon and set up a hotline to let the people know where (they have been transferred) and mobilise a unit on the ground if possible," said Zaid (left).

Apprehensive that the EC will not act on PKR's complaint, Zaid also urged the people to use their own initiative to double-check their polling stations.

"Call any Pakatan machinery to check it out... I hope on Sunday there are none who are stranded at the wrong polling station," said Zaid.
