'So, is the Indian vote still insignificant?'

your say ‘Pakatan dismissed Indian votes as insignificant and they were not interested in recapturing Indian votes. Denial is the best weapon for self-destruction.’

Anwar: BN spent RM65,000 per voter

Fairplay:

Both spent money and distributed goodies to convince the voters, but finally, who spent more, won.

Although BN spent more, Pakatan Rakyat’s campaign strategy did not win the heart of the voters. We can’t deny that incidents like tearing down posters, vulgar words, militant tactics, and Zaid Ibrahim’s personality contributed to the failure to attract voters.

At the same time, MIC top leaders did not go to the ground but sent new faces to convince the Indian voters. They explained to the voters that S Samy Vellu will step down, the Maika money will be returned to the shareholders, that we must have another Indian in Parliament, and so on.

This approach influenced more voters than that adopted by PKR’s Indian leaders, who are only active in releasing press statements but came to Hulu Selangor and talked nonsense.

G Pandi Tan: Anwar Ibrahim, you may be a self-made man but you have to admit those Indian PKR MPs and state assembly members do not have Indian grassroots support. You isolating the real Hindraf has cost you Hulu Selangor.

Raja Rajan: Pakatan leaders are still in self-denial. They don't want to acknowledge they lost the Indian votes. They dismissed Indian votes as insignificant and they were not interested in recapturing these Indian votes. Denial is the best weapon for self-destruction.

Azmil Tayeb:

I hope Pakatan will mobilise more frequent visits to all Felda settlements, up until the next general election. They need to be frequently updated with all of BN’s bad management practices that involve corruption and the ever-increasing costs of services through taxes and subsidy-removal. Keep them informed of national issues, too.

Voter-Get-Voters campaign for GE13:

Pakatan lost in Hulu Selangor due to massive vote-buying, vote-rigging, road blocks, intimidation, false promises, character assassination and the shifting of 13,000 voters to different polling stations at the last minute and other evil deeds.

I am sad and mad, but in a way, I am glad because this loss will spur us and awaken others to register and vote this evil regime BN come 13th general election. We lost this battle, but we shall win the war. I shall double my efforts for Pakatan.

1Money: PKR cannot lead the country. They are like kids. When they lose, they just blame, blame and blame. You lost my vote, PKR.

BN didn't buy votes, says Najib

Alexander Yuan:

So, what do you call the RM3 million for the Chinese school and payments to Felda folks, then? Goodwill payment? You disgust me, BN. You threw millions of ringgit at the faces of Hulu Selangor folk to get the seat. And they gladly voted for  a puppet of Umno as their parliamentary representative in response.

Timothy Tong:

To spend that amount of money, whether for votes or for the rakyat, just to win by a mere 1,725 majority. This must be causing shivers of fear to run down their spines! Let's wait for the 13th general election

Rocky:

Come on, PM, we are not so dumb. I heard you say on NTV7 to a Chinese school crowd that if you vote for us (or if we win), tomorrow will come and you will see me give you RM3 million. Just check the TV clip and we can see what you said.

You bought the votes. Why not spend on other places as well other than Hulu Selangor?

Johnny Yong: If the PM-cum-finance minister offers to give land and money in exchange for voters’ support in a by-election and if that is not considered corruption, then what is?

Your analogy, Najib, tells me that everyone has a price. The question is, what is the price? Dignity is out of the question. That is why you went on a shopping spree to buy all the inferior opposition MPs, and then the voters.

With BN running the country, I will not want to return to Malaysia and be taxed by a corrupted government.

Thinking Aloud:

Good luck, (Hulu Selangor) people, you may eat well for today, but tomorrow you and your children will suffer from injustice and inequality. P Kamalanathan will say ‘I do not know’ or ‘I have refer to my boss’.

Loyal Malaysian: Of course, the BN did not buy any votes. Umnoputras just greased the palms of the voters! But, yes, ultimately a majority of the voters chose BN. In a democracy, we have to respect the decision of the majoity and we shall keep our peace and let the good folks of Hulu Selangor enjoy the perks given by the BN.

Doc: Technically, PM Najib Abdul Razak is correct that BN did not buy votes to seal BN's victory in Hulu Selangor. BN just gave the Hulu Selangor constituents what belonged to them in the first place.

If it weren't for this by election, the Felda settlers would not have gotten some of the money which was owed to them by the federal government for the purchase of their land by developers who had never paid them. Whether they get the rest of the money as promised by BN before the election or after, that’s another issue.

The Indian estate workers were promised water and electricity. I think it is the right for every citizen to have water and electricity. So basically, BN gave the Indians what they deserved, in the first place.

Lastly, the PM gave the Chinese RM3 million for a school which BN had kept back from the community.

In short, BN did not buy votes. It just gave the Hulu Selangor community what they deserved and painted a picture that BN was kind and caring and looking after the people’s needs.

ISA at Kertih:

It’s okay for the state to buy votes by giving out and promising this and that. Even Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Khalid Ibrahim has advocated this. Ignore the comments of losers.
